Town Experience
I have almost thirty years of active Moraga volunteer public service:

I’ve led each organization and am proud of my positive impact, especially through working collaboratively with the other organization members. Each of these organizations, through the members and supporting town staff, have had significant positive impact on Moraga.
The DRB and PC are important parts of Moraga's planning process. These organizations (now both incorporated into the PC) have the role of representing Moraga's citizens in applying Moraga's General Plan, the Municipal Code and Design Guidelines. They also serve the critical role of providing individual citizens the opportunity to provide their input.
Consistent with the General Plan, the planning process must consider multiple factors. The toughest applications are those which require facilitating an acceptable compromise between applicants and town citizen interests. Following are several representative actions which I'm proud of:

Achieving the visually attractive Sonsara Development (across Moraga Way from the Moraga Country Club) despite challenges of relatively steep hillside through extended serious negotiations with the developer.

Significantly improving the design of 329 Rheem Blvd. (current Moraga Town Admin. Bldg.) from the originally proposed army barracks style stucco building.

Avoiding visual blight of one or more 75 ft high cell towers at the top of Alta Mesa Dr. by limiting the approved cell antennas to multiple low-level ~15 ft high ground based panel antennas.
During my tenure on the Hacienda Foundation BOD, we focused on growing the visibility of the Hacienda to Moraga’s citizens, raising funds for building renovations and developing a long-term strategic plan. We instituted annual Oktoberfest and Cinco de Mayo celebrations which were major community events. We raised funds and were able to remodel several areas. We developed a strategic plan which was presented to the Town Council.
The TC is the highest-level decision-making body of Moraga, representing every citizen of Moraga. Most actions taken by the TC are on work products by Staff, with potentially review by the PC and other Town decision making bodies such as the Parks and Recreation Commission. A sampling of accomplishments:

Prioritizing of road paving projects improving Moraga's average road condition to the target good rating.

Improving in the Town's financial condition, evidenced by our achieving a Standard and Poor's AAA Credit Rating.

Completing a complete rezoning of the Town, prioritizing new residences in the two shopping areas with multiple benefits.

Achieving State approval of the 6th Cycle Housing Element by the mandated deadline, thus avoiding interference by the State in Moraga's planning.

Completing a comprehensive update to Moraga's General Plan.
I’m a 13-year member and current president of the Kiwanis Club of Moraga Valley.
Professional Experience
During my 33-year career with Chevron, I successfully handled a wide range of challenging and complex assignments. These included technical, project management, and later in my career, organization development (including mentoring). I trained in making quality decisions, I practiced making quality decisions, and then I built organization competency in decision making, including a five-year worldwide leadership position.
My experiences make me uniquely qualified, and energized, to continue to support Moraga citizens by serving on the Town Council.
